Opal Foods, LLC Announces Acquisition of Ham & Eggs, LLC and the Good Egg, LLC


Brock Peterson, President of Opal Foods, announced that his Company has acquired the operating assets of Ham & Eggs, LLC and The Good Egg, LLC, two egg laying operations located in north-central Iowa. The acquired assets include commercial egg production and processing facilities with a capacity for approximately 2.6 million laying hens.


In commenting on the transaction Peterson stated “We are excited to add Ham & Eggs and The Good Egg to our existing business; they are high quality operations.” He added. “Joe Scallon and his employees have a commitment to excellence that will further our strategic goals and help us continue to supply our customers with the highest quality eggs.”


The acquisition of Ham and Eggs and the Good Egg represents an extension of Opal Food’s growth plans. Opal has invested in the expansion of its cage-free operations in Missouri and Colorado and also in a cage-free partnership in California-based Central Valley Eggs, LLC in order to fulfill the customer demands for cage-free and specialty eggs.

 Joe Scallon will continue to manage Ham & Eggs and The Good Eggs, and Opal will retain all of the employees at Ham & Egg and The Good Eggs.
