U.K. Reports SE on Cruise Ship Passengers

Public Health England has documented 25 cases of Salmonella Enteritidis acquired by passengers during May 2019 while on cruise ships. Since many of the patients reported that all meals were consumed on their vessels and that more than one cruise ship is involved, contaminated food used to prepare meals is in all probability responsible for outbreaks. The itineraries of affected passengers included Croatia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan and Oman.

No details have been provided on the possible vehicle of infection whether eggs, salads or other uncooked foods were responsible for outbreaks.
