Aldi to Expand in Three States

Consistent with the previous announcement that Aldi would be spending $3.4 billion to expand to 2,500 U.S. stores by the end of 2022 the company has announced an entry into Alabama and additional stores in North Carolina and Minnesota.

Shawn O’Keefe a Division Vice-president for Aldi stated, “We strive to make grocery shopping an enjoyable experience.  We combine great food with affordable prices.”  Aldi is locating a store in Montgomery AL., the first in the state, to open on August 1st with appropriate promotions.

Aldi will add to the roster of existing stores in Minnesota with the intent of establishing 70 new units.  Despite over-trading, North Carolina was selected for four new stores in the Triangle area opening in late 2019 and early 2020.

Over the past two years Aldi has spent $34 million on a program of upgrading and renovating existing units in Minnesota alone.
