China Places Piecemeal Orders for Soybeans

The Government of China has announced that an additional 10 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans will be imported in 2019 bringing the total to 16.5 million metric tons year-to-date. In 2017, prior to the imposition of tariffs soybean purchases amounted to 14 billion metric tons representing 31 percent of U.S. production and 60 percent of U.S. exports.

The American Soybean Association has lobbied for a successful resolution of trade talks with China with a specific request to rescind tariffs as part of the negotiated outcome.
