2019 White House Egg Roll

According to an AEB release, U.S. egg farmers provided 200 cases of eggs to be used for the 2019 Egg Roll. In addition, decorated eggs and EggPops have become a South Lawn tradition since introduction by the AEB in 2017. Roughly 50,000 EggPops were distributed with unused eggs donated to area food banks.

For the 42nd year, the AEB presented the Commemorative Egg on behalf of America’s Egg farmers to the First Lady. The design for the 2019 Egg was inspired by submissions from children of egg farmers across the country.

Egg farmers and their families were present during the presentation of the 2019 Commemorative Egg to the First Lady. Children of egg farmers, in gold aprons, joined the First Lady in the reading circle on the South Lawn.

Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Stephen Censky joined festivities to meet egg farmers and enjoy the occasion.

Eggy & The Pops returned to the South Lawn again this year.

Children and their parents also learned about the egg’s journey from farm to plate     with   the interactive Hen-to-Home exhibit.
