Renewable Fuels Association Attacking Small Refinery Exemptions and Pressing for Year Round E-15

The April 25th release of the Ethanol Report circulated by the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) noted that the comment period for the proposed EPA Rule on Year-Round sales of E15 would end on Monday April 29th.

The RFA has pressed for the concession although year-round availability of E15 will not materially move the needle on consumption. Their persistence relates more to the RFA playing to its base than improving the profitability of corn-based ethanol production.

The RFA has also drawn attention to the numerous small (and not so small) refinery exemptions that have detracted from potential volume of domestic off-take. The RFA has demanded more details including the identity of recipients of small refinery exemptions and the volumes involved.
