AEB Promotional efforts in Japan

08/08/2019

Late last month, AEB funded a seminar on culinary applications for U.S. dried eggs. The event was organized by USAPEEC Japan at the Tokyo Confectionary School. Guest instructor, Chef Yutaka Yamazaki taught 45 students how to incorporate U.S. dried eggs in breads and confectionary.

For the first half of 2019 Japan imported 4,061metric tons of egg products from the U.S valued at $16.6 million. Imports were 35 percent lower in volume and 39 percent lower in value compared to the corresponding period in 2018.

Continual promotion by the AEB in cooperation with the USAPEEC, supported in part by check-off funds is necessary to maintain the demand for U.S.-origin products in the face of competition from suppliers belonging to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership
